
We are supporting the recruitment of an experienced Aluminium Welder and Fabricator for a busy manufacturing environment in Basildon. This is a hands-on, multi skilled role focused on aluminium forming and welding, working with aluminium sheet, extruded aluminium profiles and prefabricated parts. The role is varied by design, you will also support wider production needs, including operating machinery in the primary area and helping in assembly when required to meet customer demand. Over time, you will have the opportunity to develop new capability, including training towards laser welding as this is introduced.
What you will be doing
You will take ownership for producing high quality aluminium components and supporting smooth production flow. Typical duties include:
- Aluminium welding, producing consistent joints to specification for strength, finish and dimensional accuracy
- Preparing parts for welding including cleaning, fit up, alignment, jigging and tack welding
- Working with extruded aluminium profiles, cutting, drilling, preparing and finishing for correct fit and alignment
- Supporting bending and pressing activities where required
- Cutting, preparing and finishing sheet metal components, marking out, deburring and dressing parts
- Working accurately to drawings, job cards and quality requirements, carrying out in process checks
- Recording and escalating quality issues promptly, supporting root cause and corrective actions
- Operating production machinery in the primary area when required, in line with training and safe systems of work
- Supporting assembly during peak demand or when workload shifts
- Maintaining strong housekeeping and 5S standards, and contributing to continuous improvement activities
What we are looking for
To succeed in this role you will need:
- Proven experience welding aluminium in a manufacturing environment, with consistent quality and finish
- Experience working with extruded aluminium profiles, including cutting, preparation and fit up
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and job instructions accurately
- Competence using measuring tools and checking dimensional accuracy
- Strong attention to detail, pride in workmanship and a right first-time mindset
- A flexible attitude, willing to support machine operation and assembly as required
- A strong safety mindset and disciplined process approach
- Openness to learning new processes, including training towards laser welding capability
